Freshman HASS-D Lottery Information Page

Welcome Entering Freshmen

You may enter the HASS-D Lottery from the link below. (This is only relevant to entering freshmen. Second-semester freshmen and all other continuing students should enter the lottery through pre-registration.)

Deadline
Your deadline for entering the Lottery is July 13, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Step-by-Step
Here's how to get ready to enter. First, make sure that you:

1. are a freshman with an MIT Kerberos identity and an MIT Personal Certificate.

2. are familiar with your options regarding completion of the HASS Requirement and enrollment in HASS-D classes. As an entering freshman, you are not required to take HASS-D subjects. However, if you would like to take a subject labeled HASS-D, you will need to enter the lottery. If you have questions about the HASS Requirement, information is available here.

3. understand that the Freshman Essay Evaluation does not directly influence your HASS-D options. That being said, some HASS-D's are also CI-H's, but CI-HW's are never HASS-D's. If you are required to take a CI-HW, you must do so before any CI-H's can count toward your Communication Requirement. There are no such restrictions on HASS-D's (or any other part of the HASS Requirement). Thus, you are always able to enter the HASS-D Lottery and take HASS-D (or other HASS) classes. If you recieve a HASS-D subject through the lottery, and later decide not to take it, you may drop the HASS-D when you register for your other classes.

4. When you are ready, click on the link below—and best of luck!
