Anantha Chandrakasan

Anantha Chandrakasan is MIT’s provost and the Vannevar Bush Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Reporting to MIT’s president, Chandrakasan is the Institute’s chief academic and budget officer. He previously served as dean of MIT’s School of Engineering and as the Institute’s inaugural chief innovation and strategy officer. Chandrakasan also served as director of the MIT Microsystems Technology Laboratories and was head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). Chandrakasan is also the executive senior advisor to the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium (MCSC) and serves as co-chair of the MIT-IBM Computing Research Lab, which he founded.

Chandrakasan earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
