Any SHASS staff, including Administrative, Sponsored-Research (both administrative & technical), and Support staff.

Anyone in SHASS can nominate someone. This program is intended to stay within the School. The nomination form is located here with only SHASS employees having access.

Yes, but it only counts for 1 raffle ticket.

Yes, but they won’t be entered into the raffle. In order to enter into the raffle, a separate thank you note needs to be written for each person.

Self-nominations aren’t permitted.

Yes, but only up to 2 entries per month and each response needs to be unique in order to be considered for the raffle.

There is no limit to the number of nominations a nominator can submit each month.

A person can win every six months.

Yes. The person being recognized receives the thank you note via email. The notification with also copy their DAF/HR, Head and person who submitted the thank you note. Any party can forward the notification to the person’s direct supervisor.

Drawings take place on the last Monday of each quarter. The raffle will include anyone who was recognized during the previous three months.

Per the guidance from VPF and MIT’s Recognition Program regarding tax compliance, the nominator must choose the gift item.  Our old Appreciation program included the issuance of gift cards.  Unfortunately, about a year ago, MIT discontinued the practice of giving gift cards for Spot and Appreciation Awards due to federal regulations.  That’s why we created this program.
