The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences 2025 Advanced Degree Ceremony will take place Thursday, May 29 at 11 a.m. in the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing (Building 45), 8th Floor.
Philosophy doctoral student Sonia Pavel to deliver Advanced Degree Ceremony address
Sonia Maria Pavel, an MIT doctoral student in Philosophy, works primarily in social and political philosophy, with interests in justice, education, feminist theory, social ontology, normative public policy, and the history of political thought. Sonia was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, and came to the U.S. through the Wien International Scholarship Program at Brandeis University, where she received her B.A. in Philosophy and Anthropology.

Sonia Pavel is a doctoral student in Philosophy primarily in social and political philosophy.
Student Resources
Participating advanced degree candidates in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences are eligible to receive up to four (4) guest tickets to the OneMIT Commencement Ceremony and four (4) guest tickets to the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences Advanced Degree Ceremony. Tickets are electronic and will be released to participating candidates at the end of May.
