What’ve you enjoyed most about your area of study? Was there a particular discovery, new skill or way of thinking, or insight that you found especially valuable? Please share an example from your favorite class or experience.
I loved seeing the real-world applications from my class to the news. It’s almost as if the econ curriculums for my classes were evolving in real time in reaction to global events. An example was with Prof. Angrist who focused on gains in education correlated with income that I was able to see in the Post-Covid educational lag.
How does the knowledge from this field, or your interest in it, combine with your other major or minor studies at MIT?
Many other majors focus on the technical aspects of the field. I like that Econ looks at the human aspect. In doing so, I can draw to my finance and CS classes in a way that humanizes the topics and gives me a greater understanding when the models don’t align with real world occurrences.
An MIT education includes study in the scientific, technical, social science, arts, and humanities fields. How do you think that wide range of knowledge and perspectives will be valuable to you – for your career success and for your enjoyment of life?
I think it helps frame my career and goals from the perspective of a larger picture. However, rather than feeling isolated or overwhelmed by the vastness of opportunities in front of me, it gives me a roadmap to best position myself as I think about my career.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be joining Deutsche Banks TMT Investment Banking Division in San Francisco.
