Hyo Sun Park

Soprano Hyo Sun Park is a Physics PhD student at MIT specializing in atomic physics. Introduced to classical music at an early age through piano lessons with her mother, Hyo Sun discovered her passion for singing in college, when she began vocal training with Suzanne DuPlantis. As a sophomore, she won first prize in the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Concerto Competition with Mozart’s “Exsultate, jubilate,” followed by solo appearances with the Bi-Co Chorale in works including Handel’s “Judas Maccabaeus” and Bush’s “Christmas Cantata.” At MIT, Hyo Sun has studied voice with Kendra Colton. Her recent solo performances include Mozart’s “Requiem” and “Vesperae solennes de confessore, K. 339,” with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra, following her win at RICCO’s 15th Annual Collegiate Vocal Competition; Poulenc’s “Gloria” with the MIT Concert Choir; and the world premiere of Charles Shadle’s “Grace” with the MIT Chamber Chorus.
