For some, voting for the first time is also about those who can’t.
“The right to vote is going to vary quite a bit across different states in the U.S.,” said MIT political scientist Ariel White, who spoke with NPR about voting for the formerly incarcerated and the challenges some might face. “It can be really challenging for people to get accurate information about what the law is and how it might be applied to them.”
