The scientists who hoarded seeds even as they were starving
Deborah Blum, director of MIT’s Knight Science Journalism program, produced a review of Simon Parkin’s “THE FORBIDDEN GARDEN: The Botanists of Besieged Leningrad and Their Impossible Choice,” for the New York Times. “Still,” Blum writes of the story about a group of botanists who starved during the siege of Leningrad, “the overarching question of what is right remains ever-present — a bright, painful line throughout.”
