Sally Kornbluth

Sally Kornbluth is President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During her tenure, she launched the Climate Project at MIT, introduced the MIT Human Insight Collaborative (MITHIC), and welcomed the MIT Health and Life Sciences Collaborative (MIT HEALS). Later, Kornbluth introduced the MIT Generative AI Impact Consortium (MGAIC) and launched the MIT Initiative for New Manufacturing. In her research, Kornbluth focused on processes that are key to understanding cancer as well as various degenerative disorders. She has published extensively on how cancer cells evade apoptosis and how metabolism regulates the cell death process.

Kornbluth earned a BA in political science from Williams College, a BA in genetics from Cambridge University, and a PhD in molecular oncology from Rockefeller University. She completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego.
