Dissolving boundaries with music
Dissolve Music @ MIT welcomed a global group of scholars and artists for a two-day festival and showcase.

Dissolve Music @ MIT was a two-day spatial sound showcase and conference held Oct. 2-3, 2025 in MIT’s black box theater in Music and Theater Arts’ building W97. The event connected the MIT community with students, faculty, musicians and technologists from around the world through performances, discussions, lightning talks, and receptions.
Staged by Comparative Media Studies/Writing professor and MIT anthropologist Ian Condry, this event was supported by funding from the MIT Human Insight Collaborative (MITHIC), the Global Mediations Lab, MITHIC Sound Lab Unworking Group, MIT Office of the Arts, MIT Morningside Academy for Design, and the numerous artists and volunteers affiliated with the MIT Spatial Sound Lab.
