Every automation wave in history created more jobs than it destroyed. Will AI be different?
A Quartz story about AI, automation, and job creation and destruction cites research from MIT economists Daron Acemoglu and David Autor. “Automation displaces workers from tasks they used to perform, shifting production against labor,” Acemoglu’s research found, while Autor’s research says that “information turned out to be merely an input into decision-making, which remained the province of elite experts.”
