‘The People Can Fly’ examines the challenges African-American prodigies have faced
MIT Literature professor Joshua Bennett speaks with NPR about his new book, “The People Can Fly: American Promise, Black Prodigies, and the Greatest Miracle of All Time.” The book profiles American prodigies, examining the personal and social dimensions of cultivating promise. “There is a peril that can come along with promise,” Bennett says. “Promise can be taken away.”
