Why do we care how much we spend on Medicaid?

Forbes cites research co-authored by MIT economist Amy Finklestein collected from the Oregon Health Insurance Experiment, a randomized control trial. The study showed that Medicaid enrollees had less financial stress and were less likely to be depressed, but there was no difference in their physical health.
