Exceptional Opportunities for Excellent Students
Several exceptional opportunities are available to MIT undergraduates, regardless of major, who have demonstrated excellence in some aspect of the humanities, arts, and social sciences:


Burchard Scholars
The Burchard Scholars Program brings together students and faculty members in a series of monthly dinner seminars.


Kelly-Douglas Fund
The Kelly-Douglas Fund includes two awards for undergraduates: the I. Austin Kelly III Essay Prize and the Kelly-Douglas Traveling Fellowship.


Phi Beta Kappa Society 
In addition, the faculty committee that elects students to MIT’s chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society takes into account several mechanical criteria relating to a student’s HASS coursework.
