Catalyst for the Arts

Founded in 1972 by President Jerome Wiesner and his wife, Catherine Stratton, the Council for the Arts has supported a remarkable, flourishing arts culture at MIT by purchasing public art, awarding millions of dollars in grants, and developing relationships with Boston-area arts institutions like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Institute of Contemporary Art. “Catalyst for the Arts at MIT” is a brief history of the Council, its efforts, and its powerful legacy.
