MISTI — the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives — is MIT’s enterprising international education program. MIT SHASS political science faculty pioneered the concept of applied international internships, and founded the MISTI program, which is based in the School’s Center for International Studies.
Each year, MISTI matches about a third of all MIT undergraduates with international internship, research, and teaching opportunities. A key component of the MISTI internships is that students study the language, culture, and history of their host countries before traveling abroad — an approach that prepares MIT students for successful, respectful experiences and leadership on global teams.
