An extraordinary commitment 

Each year, numerous members of the MIT SHASS faculty give generously of their time to serve as Chairs or Co-Chairs on Institute-level committees, which play key roles in guiding MIT as a whole. Leadership on Institute-level committees is a significant investment of time, mindspace, and creative energy — layered over a faculty member's ongoing deep committments to teaching and research.
