School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences 2024 Advanced Degree Ceremony

Master's and doctoral students honored for their accomplishments

Graduates of master's and doctoral programs in the MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences were honored at a ceremony held Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Anna Russo PhD '24 delivered the student address.

This summer, Russo will be a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows, and will then join the Economics Department at Harvard as an Assistant Professor.

"Being a researcher is not a solitary pursuit: teaching others and supporting and improving the work of peers and students is a central goal. We all benefited from dedicated faculty here at MIT, and I look forward to paying it forward in the future," Russo said.

Agustín Rayo, Kenan Sahin Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, told graduates they are the new generation of innovative thinkers and critical minds.

"You’ve all left your mark on this Institute -- through your work and your research, but also through the relationships you built during your time here," he said. "I hope these relationships will continue to flourish throughout your lives. And I hope that you will all think of yourselves as part of the MIT family for the rest of your lives."
